Quilt a Long with Lori

My blocks for the Quilt a Long with Lori are complete through Step 2.  Yeah!  When the first step was posted,  I did not have a pink that worked for me.  So Friday after work I stopped at JoAnns and found a pink fabric.  These blocks have been a delight to piece and I am enjoying the slow pace. 

Blossoming Trees and Just Takes 2

Continuing to work on my Blossoming Trees.  I've gotten this far and I am stuck.  Not sure what to do for a border.  Just trying to be a little creative and not only follow a pattern.

In other news, I am working on my Just Takes 2 blocks.  Four of the six are completed. 

Quilt a Long with Humble Quilts

Lori at Humble Quilts is sharing a Quilt-A-Long this month.  It features a yellow and pink antique doll quilt with Shoofly blocks.  I am planning to Quilt-A-Long.  It looks like an enjoyable and easy quilt to make.  I pulled some fabrics from by collection.  I'm a little short on pinks...might have to do some shopping.

For my Just Takes 2 quilt, I am planning to use the various red fabrics I already have with a Kona white.  That way I will use some fabrics that I have had a while and it will make some space for newer updated pieces.  My selections are these.

Blossoming Trees

These blocks are trees I drafted based on the "Blossoming Tree" quilt in the "Quilts, Quilts, Quilts" book.  The blocks are 5 inches and the fabrics were chosen to represent the four seasons.  Spring is at the top left; summer next to it; fall below summer; and to the left of fall, winter.

This Halloween quilt was made last year. It was a pattern by Linda Lum DeBono. I changed this a bit. The cat replaces a bat.

This quilt was made after a stay on Captive Island. It is a "souvenier" of our stay on the Island. The pattern was purchased at Three Crafty Ladies on Sanibel Island. It is called Water Whimsies by Kari K Designs. I changed this one a little also...the flamingo was an egret.

This quilt is from a pattern by Lori Smith. I changed it some. The pattern had birdhouses where I placed the red and white check. I made it red, white and green so it would have a Christmasy feel.

Christmas, 2010

While on vacation in November, I had the great delight of visiting the Little Quilts Store in Marietta, GA.  While there I purchased some fabrics and made this quilt from a pattern in one of the first quilt books I ever purchased.  That book was “Little Quilts All Through the House.”  I finished this quilt on New Years Day even though my cold, runny nose and sore throat  tried to stop me.

The chair below was one of my favorite Christmas ideas this year.  The quilt was made to be a table runner but when I laid it on this chair as I brought out the Christmas items it looked great.  And so it found its home.

I crocheted the pillow from a pattern by the Royal Sisters.  It was fun to make and her directions were very clear. This year we enjoyed our first “live” Christmas tree in many a year.  The tree was wonderful, so much prettier than our “fake” tree.
