I joined Lori from Humble Quilts quilt-along and made this small quilt. Lori's quilt was inspired by a visit to a Paris shop called Sajou. So I used some French General fabrics I had purchased awhile back. My little quilt is a bit different from Lori's directions. My center fabric has a "point of view" so I had to adjust the final round. I added in the pinkish triangles and an extra stripe border and then added Lori's triangle border to the edge.

The quilt above is the Disco Quilt pattern from Jaybird Quilts. I just completed this last week. It is for my son Austin whose middle name is Joseph so I called this quilt Austin Joseph's Quilt of Many Colors. Planning the layout of the blocks was the most challenging and the most rewarding part of this project. He likes it so now I just need to quilt it. It is a twin so I will be "Walking Foot" Quilting it. I am watching Jacque Gering on Craftsy and getting lots of ideas! Maybe too many, just need to pick one for this quilt.

The Spring "Bunny" Quilt is nearly completed. This was quilted with my Walking Foot and I am adding some Big Stitch Quilting in the border between the lines of my machine quilting. If I would quit starting new projects and didn't have to go to work I could probably get this done. :))

The tulips from my previous post made a sweet little wall quilt for Spring display. Also walking foot quilted.

And finally the quilt below is next up to be quilted, also with my walking foot. Notice the theme here of walking foot quilting; free motion quilting and I have not yet enjoyed each other's company. But perhaps some day, we will. The Bookkeeper precise brain in me cannot seem to relax enough to just go with the FMQ flow. :))

This project is a Cheri Payne pattern called 'Tis Spring. Still adding the details.

I plan to assemble these blocks with the greens. The tulips were made a few years back and I recently rediscovered them and thought of a way to use them.

This Iris block is made with 1 inch pieces, 1/2 inch finished. I plan to put some butterflies and bunnies with it. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to make a block smaller. The original pattern for this is from Country Threads, Garden Quilts pattern.
I found it when I saw the Midwinter Blues Quilt Along on the Humble Quilts blog. The French General fabrics are reds but since I finished the Quilt on Valentine's Day the colors are very appropriate.
I spent the summer making this quilt. It is from the "Little Bits Quilting Bee" book; it is called Floral Notes. I used some Kaffe Fasset Liberty Marleybone Fat Quarters. Fat Quarters and the book were Christmas gifts from my sons. The quilt is lap size, each block is 17". I liked how it turned out so much that it is currently hanging near my desk in my sewing space.
Finished this little beauty up over the weekend. Thank you to Lori of Humble Quilts for sharing this sweet project. Now I need to find some time to quilt it.
This was beautiful evening here in Florida. My husband and I went for a bike ride just before supper. So enjoyable! My blocks for the Quilt a Long with Lori are complete through Step 2. Yeah! When the first step was posted, I did not have a pink that worked for me. So Friday after work I stopped at JoAnns and found a pink fabric. These blocks have been a delight to piece and I am enjoying the slow pace.
Continuing to work on my Blossoming Trees. I've gotten this far and I am stuck. Not sure what to do for a border. Just trying to be a little creative and not only follow a pattern.
Lori at Humble Quilts is sharing a Quilt-A-Long this month. It features a yellow and pink antique doll quilt with Shoofly blocks. I am planning to Quilt-A-Long. It looks like an enjoyable and easy quilt to make. I pulled some fabrics from by collection. I'm a little short on pinks...might have to do some shopping.

For my Just Takes 2 quilt, I am planning to use the various red fabrics I already have with a Kona white. That way I will use some fabrics that I have had a while and it will make some space for newer updated pieces. My selections are these.
I've just signed up for the newsletter for this red and white mystery quilt. It is being created by Gay of Sentimental Stitches and Brenda of Dear Jane blog. I hope I will be able to keep up with it. It starts tomorrow, January 1, 2012. This is the link for the Just Takes 2 mystery ...http://justtakes2.com/basic-information/ Handmade by Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01557628031611227098noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6836998863305053022.post-77057849761412611302011-12-30T12:36:00.000-05:002011-12-30T12:39:12.095-05:00Blossoming Trees

These blocks are trees I drafted based on the "Blossoming Tree" quilt in the "Quilts, Quilts, Quilts" book. The blocks are 5 inches and the fabrics were chosen to represent the four seasons. Spring is at the top left; summer next to it; fall below summer; and to the left of fall, winter.

This year we enjoyed our first “live” Christmas tree in many a year. The tree was wonderful, so much prettier than our “fake” tree.

Handmade by Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01557628031611227098noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6836998863305053022.post-23417469794112812152010-10-29T19:01:00.003-04:002010-10-29T19:07:02.512-04:00Happy Fall!Small quilt I made from a pattern by Lori Smith. I made it with Red Heart SuperSaver yarn because that yarn is firm! Next, I tackle lining it. It is sitting on the fabric I plan to use. Now I'm trying it and I don't know what I am doing! I just added the pictures thinking they would come in after the text, but instead they came in in front of the text. I like a challenge. Hopefully, I'll figure this all out before I get distracted by another project. :) By the way, those are goldfinches at my birdfeeder on an unusually cold day for Florida; it was in the 30s.

Handmade by Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01557628031611227098noreply@blogger.com0
